  • Passion for comic books, creativity, or community is a plus (not required)

Volunteer Responsibilities

Examples:
 
  • Assisting attendees with directions and information
  • Supporting exhibitor and artist needs
  • Helping maintain floor flow and organization
  • Covering tables briefly when vendors step away
  • Assisting with panels, lines, or crowd flow as needed
  • Supporting operations staff throughout the day

Volunteers may rotate through tasks as needed during their shift.

Time Commitment

  • Volunteers are encouraged to commit to at least two shifts during the event.
  • Shifts do not need to be consecutive, and committing to two shifts is optional.
  • Volunteers who are able to commit to two shifts may be prioritized during scheduling.
  • Each volunteer shift is approximately 4–5 hours in length.
  • Final shift assignments and details will be shared closer to the event.

Communication, Orientation &
Day-of Coordination

  • Volunteers will receive pre-event communication, including orientation and training information, prior to the event.
  • Orientation and training will be provided to ensure volunteers feel prepared and supported in their roles.
  • Volunteers will check in at the start of their shift at the designated Volunteer Check-In area.
  • Volunteers will receive brief day-of communication at check-in, including assignments, points of contact, and important updates for the day.
  • The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact during the event.

Volunteer Application & Selection

 

COCO builds its volunteer team intentionally to support a welcoming, well-organized, comic-book-first experience for creators, collectors, and fans. Volunteer applications remain open while positions are available; however, placement is not guaranteed until applications are reviewed and schedules are confirmed. Availability, role preferences, and event needs are all considered as part of the selection process.

What to Expect:
 
Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2025.

Review Period: Volunteer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Interview Window: Virtual or phone interviews are conducted between January 2 and January 18, 2026, as needed.

Confirmation Notification: Accepted volunteers receive confirmation and next steps by phone and email following the interview process.

Availability-Based Placement: Volunteer placement is based on availability, role needs, and event scheduling. Once volunteer positions are filled, additional qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist if space becomes available.
